A motorist died from injuries suffered early Wednesday morning in a three-car crash on Route 12.
Timothy J. Connolly, spokesman for Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., said two other drivers were treated for minor injuries at the scene, near Danielian Road.
Mr. Connolly said the driver of a Toyota Scion pulled out of Danielian Road to head south on Route 12 around 5:40 a.m. when it was struck by a box truck. A GMC Sonoma then became involved in the crash, he said.
Mr. Connolly did not identify the victim Wednesday night and declined to say which vehicle the victim was driving, but said the person was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester, where they later died.
Detours were in place for hours as investigators examined the scene. Initial investigation indicated that one of the drivers failed to yield to another, according to Police Chief Dennis Minnich.
Mr. Connolly said no further details on the crash were available Wednesday night. The state police Crash Analysis & Reconstruction Section assisted with the investigation.
