A tractor-trailer driver died Friday afternoon when his rig went off Harriman Highway in Harriman and struck a utility pole, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The driver was identified as Timothy W. Seaman, 49, of Rock Island, Tenn., according to a report by Trooper Anthony Lay.
Seaman was driving a 2006 Freightliner carrying wooden posts, according to Lay's report. He was northbound when the crash occurred in the 3800 block of the highway.
According to Lay's report, Seaman was wearing a sealtbelt but in this instance it did not make a difference in saving his life.
Testing has been ordered on whether drugs or alcohol were in the driver's system.
