WEST BROOKFIELD, MA : A Shea Road man died Monday from injuries suffered in a three-car crash on Monday, 2nd April 2018

A Shea Road man died Monday from injuries suffered in a three-car crash at Main and Milk streets, and an Oak Drive woman was charged with motor vehicle homicide and driving while intoxicated.

According to police, Alexander R. Cordy, 78, of 177 Shea Road, was taken to Bay State Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, where he was pronounced dead.

Cindy Bliss, 54, of 42 Oak Drive was taken into custody and charged with motor vehicle homicide by negligent or reckless driving, driving while intoxicated (second offense), having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, and several moving violations. She is being held without bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield, according to police.

A vehicle rollover was reported at 11:51 a.m. Monday, sending police, fire, and rescue units to the intersection. They found two cars in the yard of the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish center.

Authorities said initial investigation revealed that Ms. Bliss was driving west on Main Street and crossed the double yellow line into the eastbound lane, sideswiping a vehicle driven by Taylor Paquette, 26, of 111 Foster Hill Road. Ms. Bliss’ vehicle then struck Mr. Cordy’s vehicle, which was stopped at the stop sign on Milk Street. The impact drove Mr. Cordy’s vehicle onto the parish center lawn, and Ms. Bliss’ vehicle landed on its side.

Ms. Paquette was not hurt; Ms. Bliss had to be extricated from her vehicle with the help of North Brookfield firefighters. She was treated at Bay State Mary Lane and released. She was later taken into custody.

State police, North Brookfield police, and Brookfield Ambulance also assisted.
