The Grove, TX : Copperas Cove man killed in a collision in Coryell County on Saturday morning, November 26, 2016

A Copperas Cove man was killed Saturday morning in a collision between a car and an ambulance, authorities said.
The accident occurred at about 2:41 a.m. Saturday led to the death of Lance Michael Stevens, 23, of Copperas Cove, and sent three others to the hospital, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Dave Roberts said.

The accident between a 2006 Kia Optima, driven by Stevens, and an Ameristat ambulance happened on State Highway 36, about a mile north of The Grove in Coryell County.

The Kia was going north and a 2012 Ford F-350 Ameristat ambulance with a driver, crew members and patient, was going south, transporting a patient from Brownwood to the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System in Temple, Roberts said.

The Kia drifted to the left and into the ambulance’s path, striking it head-on.
Stevens was pronounced dead at the scene by Coryell County Justice of the Peace Beverly Jones.
The crew and patient in the ambulance were transported by another ambulance to Scott & White Medical Center-Temple with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, Roberts said.
No charges are pending.
