Jersey City, NJ : 69-year-old New York man was injured in crashing his motorcycle on April, Sunday 16th 2017
A 69-year-old New York man was taken to an area hospital Sunday after crashing his motorcycle on Route 530.
Thomas Pelletier, 69, of Nanuet, N.Y., was riding a 1999 Harley Davidson FLS westbound on Route 530 around 12:15 pm. when he attempted to turn left into Whiting Memorial Park, police said.
Pelletier lost control of the motorcycle when he drove over a patch of loose gravel, which caused the motorcycle to strike the curb near the park's entrance, police said.
The motorcycle continued for a short distance after striking the curb, before ultimately striking a concrete sign and throwing Pelletier from the motorcycle, police said.
Pelletier was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment of moderate injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening, police said.
He was not wearing a Department of Transportation-approved helmet at the time of the crash, police said.
