Emporia, KS : Woman taken into custody following Sunday vehicle accident on Sunday, February 5th 2017
At around 5 a.m. Sunday morning, while on routine patrol, a Lyon County deputy arrived at the scene of a one vehicle accident near the intersection of Road D and U.S. Hwy. 50. A female believed to be the driver was seen leaving the area on foot. The female was later located at the Flying J truck stop in Emporia and was identified as Mackenzi Anderson, age 20, of Cottonwood Falls. The Emporia Police Department assisted in the search for Anderson.
Anderson was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and other traffic related offenses. This case is still under investigation.
Anderson had been westbound on Hwy. 50 and left the roadway for an undetermined reason. Her vehicle went down a steep embankment and came to rest near a creek.
