Palm City, FL : Pedestrian, 26, killed in a crash early Saturday, April 1, 2017

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the death of a 26-year-old man who was hit by a vehicle early Saturday.

The cause of the crash that killed Clay Michael Fischer of Palm City is under investigation, FHP said in a report released Saturday night.

The crash took place at the corner of Southwest Martin Highway and Southwest Berry Avenue, about a mile east of Interstate 95, where paramedics were called just after 3:35 a.m., said Bureau Chief Doug Killane of Martin County Fire Rescue.

A 2016 Ford Focus driven by Christopher C. Koch, 51, of Port St. Lucie was headed east on Martin Highway when it struck Fischer, FHP said in its report.

Fischer was prounounced dead at the scene
