Georgetown, DE :Pedestrian killed in Route 113 accident on Monday, July 6th 2015

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that took the life of a Dover woman crossing Route 113 in Georgetown.Police say 44-year-old Jennifer Hughes was crossing the road around 4:30 a.m. Monday morning when she was hit in the northbound lanes by a pick-up truck. Hughes was not walking in a designated crosswalk at the time of the incident, and she was pronounced dead at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital.Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the accident, and no charges are expected.113 northbound between Bramhall Street and Bridgeville Road was closed for about two and a half hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
