Perkins Township, OH : Bellevue man dies from medical condition during Erie County crash on Saturday morning, July 9, 2016

A Bellevue man died of a medical condition during a crash in Erie County on Saturday morning.

The crash happened at 7:30 a.m. on Campbell Street, south of Bogart Road in Perkins Township, according to a State Highway Patrol news release.

Kenneth Gerhardstein, 65, of Bellevue, was pulling out of his driveway when he suffered an unknown medical condition.

The 2004 Cadillac Deville Gerhardstein was driving crossed over Campbell Street and went off the west side of the roadway. Gerhardstein continued over a landscaping mound, through a large bush, struck a basketball hoop, and two parked cars.

He was transported to Firelands Emergency Room where he died due to the medical condition.

Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash.

The Erie County Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
