RANKIN, IL : Vermilion Co. crash ends with 3 dead on Tuesday, 27th June 2023

The Vermilion County Coroner has identified two of the people who were killed in Tuesday’s crash near Rankin, saying they were both teenagers from Paxton.

Coroner Jane McFadden said the victims are 19-year-old Joseph D. Stallone and 17-year-old Keegynn L. Martinek. Both were driving in the Jeep SUV that was T-boned by a stolen Toyota at the intersection of Illinois Route 49 at 3550 North Road.

The driver of the stolen Toyota also died in the crash; their identity was not released, pending identification and notification of next of kin.

McFadden said autopsies are scheduled for this week. The Illinois State Police and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office are still investigating the crash.
