Davis, CA : Driver killed after crashing into tree on I-80 in Davis on Thursday morning, July 7, 2016
A big rig driver was killed Thursday morning after crashing into a tree on Interstate 80 in Davis, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened just before 5 a.m. when the 55-year-old driver, of West Sacramento, drove his truck off eastbound I-80, just east of Richards Boulevard.
The big rig hit a large oak tree behind La Quinta Inn, causing the entire tree to come crashing down onto several parked cars.
It is unclear what caused the driver to veer off the roadway.
Traffic on I-80 was not impacted by the crash.
No additional details have been released.
