YAKIMA, WA : Kansas man injured in single-car crash on Saturday, September 30th 2017
Fatigue caused a single-vehicle crash 10 miles north of Yakima on Saturday afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Paul E. Wabaunsee, 74, of Mayetta, Kansas was taken to Virginia Mason Memorial Hospital in Yakima after the single-vehicle accident on Interstate 82 shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. He was later transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he remains in acute care, according to a nursing supervisor.
Wabaunsee was westbound at milepost 21 when his Kia Sorento SUV left the roadway and rolled, totaling it, troopers said. He was wearing his seat belt.
Troopers reported fatigue as the cause. Wabaunsee was cited for driving with wheels off roadway.
