Martinsville, IL : One hurt in truck collision on U.S. 40 at 1000 Street Wednesday morning, October 12, 2016

A two-vehicle crash Wednesday morning near Martinsville, Illinois, sent a man to the hospital.

The crash was reported just before 8:30 a.m. on U.S. 40 at 1000 Street.

A green 1996 Freightliner semi-truck driven by Andy E. Beard, 42, of Flat Rock, Illinois, was westbound on U.S. 40 approaching the intersection when it rear-ended a green 2006 International Bulk fuel truck driven by Michael S. Stout, 46, of Martinsville, according to Illinois State Police.

Investigators determined Beard apparently lost focus and failed to realize Stout was slowing to make a left turn.

Beard was taken to Terre Haute Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. Police cited him for failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision.
