DUE WEST, SC : 16-year-old charged with DUI in fatal crash on gravel road on July, Tuesday 4th 2017
Authorities say a 16-year-old has been charged with driving under the influence after his passenger was killed on a wreck on a gravel road in South Carolina.
The state Highway Patrol said the teen was driving a 1987 Mazda pickup around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday when he ran off a gravel road in northern Abbeville County near Due West.
Troopers say the truck overturned. Abbeville County Coroner Ronnie Ashley told media outlets that 17-year-old Tyler Ferguson of Belton was ejected from the pickup and died at the scene.
Authorities say the teen driver is charged with felony DUI involving death and minor in possession of alcohol. He was released to his parents, and he was not identified because of his age.
