Baltimore, MD : Three people killed in single car accident on Interstate 83 on May 13, 2014
Three people were killed in a single-car crash on a ramp at the intersection of two major Baltimore freeways Tuesday afternoon, State Police said.
Early investigation suggested the vehicle was traveling southbound on Interstate 83 when, for reasons which have not been determined, it left the roadway and went into a heavily wooded area on the left side of the road and then struck a large tree, police said. The impact of the crash caused the car to break into pieces.
Police received a call at around 4 p.m. from a citizen who said he saw a vehicle off the roadway on the southbound I-83 ramp on to the outer loop of Interstate 695 in Timonium, but the exact time of the accident is not known, according to a news release.
The victims, who have not been identified, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The left lane of the ramp was closed while State Police investigated Tuesday, but traffic was able to pass in the right lane, police said.
The investigation was ongoing Tuesday evening.
