Rowan County ,NC : 80-year-old Charles Ray Fleming killed after fatal single-vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon, August 15th 2015

The victim has been identified in a fatal single-vehicle accident in Rowan County Saturday afternoon, according to officials.

The accident reportedly happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of Goodman Lake Road, just a few miles east of Salisbury.

When troopers arrived on scene, they say a Nissan pickup was on its side, and appeared to have crashed into a tree. The driver, later identified as 80-year-old Charles Ray Fleming, was the only one in the car, according to NC Highway Patrol.

Goodman Lake Road was closed for a while after the crash. Emergency crews had to wait to start clearing the scene because a power line was involved.

The Salisbury man was reportedly wearing a seat belt and troopers say neither speed nor any impairment played a factor in the wreck.
