Delray Beach, FL : Delray driver pinned under vehicle in I-95 crash on Monday, September 15, 2014
A driver crashing into a stopped vehicle on Interstate-95 left three people injured in a crash that caused major traffic delays on Monday, according to a Delray Beach Fire Rescue news release.
The crash happened at about 5:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes near West Atlantic Avenue.
Fire Rescue spokesman Kevin Saxton said a driver was outside of their vehicle that was stopped in the road when a vehicle hit it from behind. The crash caused the first driver to be pinned beneath the second vehicle, leaving them seriously injured.
That driver was rushed to the hospital.
A fire fighter suffered minor injuries as the pinned driver was freed as a fire broke out in the first vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries while a third driver involved in the crash was not injured, Saxton said.
The crash is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
