STATEN ISLAND, NY : 78-year-old man injured in pedestrian crash at busy intersection in Port Richmond on Monday, 22nd March 2021

A 78-year-old man was injured in a pedestrian crash in Port Richmond early in the Monday morning rush hour, according to police.

The crash, which was reported at 5:40 a.m., was in the vicinity of Post and Jewett avenues, according to spokesmen for the NYPD and the FDNY/EMS.

The man is in stable condition with an injury to his left leg at Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, according to the police and FDNY spokesmen.

The vehicle that hit the man remained at the scene, police said.

Police roped off the intersection and a damaged bicycle could be seen on the ground at a bus stop.

The police spokesman did not have any information about the bicycle.
