SOUTH WILLARD, CA : 2 people in critical condition after crash in Box Elder County on February, Saturday 17th 2018

A pregnant woman and a man are in “extremely critical condition” following a crash in Box Elder County Saturday afternoon.

At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, a 21-year-old female was driving a Mazda Protege eastbound on 8700 South in the South Willard area, according to a news released from the Utah Highway Patrol. The Mazda stopped at the stop sign and then pulled out in front of a Dodge Ram truck traveling south on S.R. 89.

The truck hit the Mazda on the driver’s side door, causing the car to spin off the roadway toward the right side of the road, UHP said.

The female driver, who is in her first trimester of pregnancy, was wearing a seat belt while the 20-year-old male passenger in the Mazda was not. He was thrown into the driver’s seat, hitting the woman, UHP said.

Both were transported via medical helicopter to Ogden hospitals in extremely critical condition.

The driver of the truck was not injured, UHP said.
