Police have not yet been able to determine the cause of a Thursday, Nov. 16, crash that resulted in serious injuries to two women.
The collision was reported at 12:45 p.m. at the intersection of Route 220 and Depot Street, according to a press release from Waldo County Sheriff's Office. According to police, A 2015 machinery delivery truck was traveling south on Route 220. A 1998 Plymouth Neon stopped at the Depot Street stop sign. It is unclear at this time, police said, what caused the two vehicles to come together on Route 220.
There were two women in the Neon — driver, 35-year-old Brandi Reynolds, and passenger, 56-year-old Patty Bishop, both of Unity. Both women sustained serious injuries in the crash and were taken to the hospital. The driver of the truck, Bradley Brockway, 73, of Albion, was not injured.
The crash is being investigated by Sgt. Nick Oettinger of Waldo County Sheriff's Office. Accident reconstruction and laser mapping was done at the scene and the Sheriff's Office was assisted by Maine State Police's Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit and Unity Fire Department.
Oettinger said speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
