NEWBURYPORT, MA : 2-car accident sends 2 to Anna Jaques Hospital on Monday, 23rd December, 2019

Two people were transported to Anna Jaques Hospital after a two-vehicle crash about 2:15 p.m. Monday sent a minivan through a fence and into a staircase at Country Manor on Low Street before coming to a stop.
The driver of the minivan that struck the staircase and a passenger inside the van were taken to the hospital. The driver of the other vehicle, a sedan, avoided injury.
Newburyport police Lt. Matthew Simons said the minivan's driver, a woman in her late 40s, suffered minor injuries. The minivan driver was taking her father to the hospital when his condition worsened to the point that she became distracted and drove off the road, he said.
She drove through a white wooden fence before smashing into the stone-based staircase.
The minivan and the car sustained front-end damage. The building was not struck Simons added.
