Jefferson City,MO : 3 Callaway County crashes combine for 7 injured on May,Monday 21st 2018
A series of accidents along Route F on Monday afternoon left four with serious injuries.
Three others received minor injuries during the three accidents, all of which took place within a few miles over 20 minutes, according to Missouri Highway Patrol reports. No fatalities were reported.
Sgt. Scott White, spokesperson for MSHP Troop F, said that the accidents appear to be completely unrelated.
"The roadways were dry yesterday, and it was pretty much clear," he said. "Every incident's still under investigation. Sometimes we'll have a crash and it'll lead to those secondary crashes, but as far as we can tell none of these were related."
The first crash happened at about 4 p.m. at County Road 323. William D. Harris, 47, of Fulton, was traveling eastbound on a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle when the bike traveled off the right side of the road, overturned and ejected Harris.
Harris was wearing a helmet but was seriously injured. He was transported by EMS to University Hospital in Columbia. The bike sustained minor damage.
The second crash occurred at about 4:10 p.m., 2,300 feet east of Route J. Charles R. White, 75, of Fulton, was traveling east when he failed to negotiate a curve on a 2010 Honda Goldwing motorcycle and struck head-on a westbound 2012 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Alexander M. Cowan, 18, of Fulton.
Sydney P. Moss, 19, of Fulton, was a passenger in the Cruze, and she and Cowan received minor injuries; both were wearing seat belts.
White was wearing a helmet but suffered serious injuries. He was airlifted to University Hospital. Cowan and Moss were transported by private conveyance to Boone Hospital Center.
Both vehicles were totaled.
At about 4:21 p.m., Kyle W. Allen, 30, of Kingdom City, was driving eastbound in a 1995 Honda Accord when just a few feet east of Route KK the Accord crossed the center line and struck a westbound 1999 Toyota Camry driven by Ace E. Harbour, 57, of Fulton.
The Accord began to rotate upon impact then struck the front of a westbound 2012 Mini Cooper driven by Ricky A. Tiefenaur, 61, of Columbia.
After that impact, the Accord and Mini Cooper came to rest off the right side of the road. Harbour brought the Camry to a controlled stop off the right side of the road.
Allen and Tiefenaur suffered serious injuries. Allen was not wearing a seatbelt, and Tiefenaur was. Both were taken by Callaway EMS to University Hospital.
Harbour suffered minor injuries and was not transported for treatment; he also was wearing a seat belt.
The Accord and Mini Cooper both were totaled, and the Camry sustained extensive damage.
