San Angelo, TX : 77 year-old man died in crash on Farm-to-Market Road 388 in San Angelo on Sunday morning, Nov 1, 2015

A 77 year-old San Angelo man died when a driver rear-ended his parked car.

Charles Frederick Miller was eastbound on Farm-to-Market Road 388, about six miles east of San Angelo, when he struck a deer in his 2014 Toyota Prius early Sunday morning, according to the Texas Department of Highway Patrol.

Miller parked halfway on the shoulder and in the main lane and exited his car.

Coby Trent Halamicek, 16, of San Angelo, was driving east at around 12:45 a.m. and didn’t see Miller or his Prius, according to DPS. He crashed into the car, critically injuring Miller and causing his 1994 Chevrolet Silverado pickup to roll over.

Miller was pronounced dead on the scene by Justice of the Peace Eddie Howard.

Halamicek was taken to Shannon Medical Center with incapacitating injuries. An update on his condition was not available as of 10 a.m. Wednesday.

He wore his seat belt, according to DPS.

Texas Highway Patrol Trooper Scott Keane investigated the crash.
