Abilene, TX : Truck driver killed in Big Spring wreck on Tuesday, March 28, 2017

One man was killed in a three-accident incident on Interstate 20 east of Big Spring Tuesday.

The Big Spring Police Department identified the victim as John Jacob Henry, 32, of Gun Barrel City.

The chain of events started when the driver of an eastbound Nissan Frontier lost control of his pickup. It came to rest in the center median. While police and sheriff's deputies were investigating the crash, the driver of an eastbound Freightliner lost control of his rig trying to avoid a vehicle which had slowed down in front of him. The Freightliner crossed the median and crashed head-on into another 18-wheeler driven by Henry.

A few minutes later, the driver of a Nissan Maxima collided with another 18-wheeler which had slowed because of the two previous wrecks.

Investigators remained at the scene until about 9:30 a.m.

Weather was believed to have been a factor in the crashes, according to the police department press release.
