CEDAR LAKE, IN : Lake County sheriff's patrol officer injured in crash on Tuesday, March 28th 2017

An on-duty Lake County sheriff's deputy was injured in a crash late Tuesday night, police said.

While on patrol in his 2009 Ford Crown Victoria, the officer was involved in a crash at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night at 125th and Wicker avenues, said Mark Back, spokesman for the Lake County Sheriff's Department. A 2007 Ford Fusion was also involved in the crash, he said.

The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately known.

It's not yet known if the officer was en route to an emergency call or if his emergency lights were activated when the crash occurred. Back told The Times he would have to review the crash report, which was not yet finalized as of Wednesday afternoon.
