HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP, PA : Motorcyclist identified in fatal Lehigh County crash on Sunday, February 19th 2017
A 32-year-old man from New Tripoli has died following a motorcycle crash in Lehigh County, according to police and the county coroner.
Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said John D. Watt died as a result of head injuries suffered in an accident shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday along the 6300 block of Hunsicker Road, about a half-mile east of Route 309 in Heidelberg Township.State police at Bethlehem said Watt, while riding a Kawasaki KZ1100 without a helmet, inexplicably lost control of his motorcycle while heading west on Hunsicker Road and was thrown off the bike, striking a tree.
The motorcycle also struck a tree, and the impact caused a fuel-tank rupture that led to a brush fire.
Deputy Coroner Jason T. Smith pronounced Watt dead at 4:58 p.m., police said.
Germansville firefighters and Northern Valley EMS assisted, according to police.
