Morganton, NC : Man cited after wrecking on I-40 on Monday, 19th March 2018
Morganton, North Carolina
A Morganton man was charged after he wrecked and overturned his vehicle on Interstate 40 on Monday afternoon.
Charles Wells, 32, of Morganton, was cited with a lane control violation after the wreck occurred, said Trooper K.B. Robinson with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Around 4 p.m., Wells was driving a box truck westbound on Interstate 40, when, according to witnesses, there was a slight curve in the road to the right and he kept going straight, leading him to hit the guardrail, Robinson said.
“The driver lost control and I am not sure exactly how,” Robinson said. “He ran off the right side of the road and hit the guardrail and debris from when he struck the guardrail hit another car in the left lane and he went down the embankment.”
The box truck ended up overturning about 50 feet from the road, Robinson said.
