Pylesville ,MD :56-year-old John Scott Stewart killed and other injured after Motorcycle crashed into the Car on Tuesday ,September 8th 2015
Maryland State Police have identified the victim of Tuesday's fatal motorcycle crash in Whiteford as 56-year-old John Scott Stewart, of the 2200 block of Amoss Mill Road in Pylesville.
State Police said Stewart was fatally injured when, just before noon, he failed to slow down his 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle and crashed into the rear of a 2008 Ford Escape, driven by Ashleigh Pennington, 26, of Whiteford, that was stopped in the southbound lane of Route 136 waiting to make a left turn into Kerr Road – which becomes Heaps Road on the east side of the intersection.
The Escape's left turn signal was on, according to a news release from the MSP Bel Air Barrack, which investigated the crash.
The impact of the crash caused Stewart to be ejected from the motorcycle. He landed in the northbound lane of Route 136, where he was struck by a Ford 9000 dump truck traveling north that was driven by Terry Miller, 49, of Delta, Pa.
Stewart was taken by ambulance to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, where he was pronounced dead.
"Preliminary investigation indicates Stewart failed to slow, causing the collision," the MSP news release states. "Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the collision."
According to the accident report, neither driver of the other vehicles involved was injured.
Route 136 was closed in both directions between Ridge and Kerr roads for several hours while the troopers investigated the crash, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration.
