Lafayette, AL : Alex City woman was killed in crash Thursday September 10 2015

An Alex City woman was killed following a crash on Thursday, according to officials with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
Corporal Jess Thornton says 23-year-old Kristi Cheek was killed when the 2007 Kia Optima she was driving left the roadway and struck a tree. Cheek, who was not using a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash happened around 4:35 p.m. on Chambers County 187, 12 miles west of Lanett. No additional information about the crash has been released as troopers continue their investigation.
