De Soto, IL : Four people injured after a three-vehicle crash at Cambria Road and Lockeyville Road on Tuesday, April 12, 2016
A three-vehicle crash sent four to the hospital at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday at Cambria Road and Lockeyville Road, according to an Illinois State Police news release.
A 2016 Chevrolet Impala driven by Jamie Mueller, 35, of Herrin was northbound on Cambria Road near Lockeyville Road when a 2013 Honda CRV in front of the Chevrolet, driven by Gregory C. Parker, 61, of Hurst slowed for other traffic. The Impala could not stop in time and swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle, striking the left rear corner and traveling into the southbound lane, where it hit a 2006 Honda CRV driven by Devoney A. Alvis, 33, of Du Quoin nearly head on.
Mueller suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital and then flown to a regional hospital. Alvis and Parker suffered incapacitating injuries and were taken to local hospitals. A 3-year-old female passenger in the Impala suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital and later flown to a region hospital. Passengers in the 2013 Honda were uninjured.
Mueller was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and improper lane usage.
