Baton Rouge, LA : 17-year-old dead, two critically injured in Lettsworth car crash Sunday, February 19, 2017

A 17-year-old died early Sunday after he drove off the side of La. 417 in Lettsworth, critically injuring his two passengers, according to Louisiana State Police.

Clayton Jarreau, of Ventress, was not wearing a seat belt when he failed to navigate a left-hand curve around 3 a.m. Sunday and drove the 2003 GMC Sierra off the right side of the road, flipping the vehicle, said Trooper 1st Class Bryan Lee.

Investigators suspect impairment was a factor in the crash, and toxicology samples will be taken from Jarreau, Lee said.

Jarreau’s two passengers were severely injured and taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, Lee said.

Jarreau was driving southbound on La. 417 south of La. 970 when he veered off the road, Lee said.
