Canby , OR : Driver of Hyundai and 9 -Years old girl were killed after semi truck and hyundai crash near near the intersection of South End Road on Monday Morning , January 12th 2015
Two people, one of whom was a young girl, died in a head-on crash late Monday morning that closed Highway 99E just north of Canby, Oregon State Police said.
Troopers said the crash happened near the intersection of South End Road at around 10:20 a.m. Monday
Investigators found that a gray 2000 Hyundai Accent sedan was heading south on the highway when it crossed the center line near milepost 17 and crashed head-on with a semi that was pulling a flatbed trailer loaded with an asphalt roller.
The driver of the Hyundai, Meghan A. Callahan, 31, of Milwaukie, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 9-year-old girl who was riding in the car was flown to OHSU, where she died about two and a half hours after the crash.
The semi-truck's driver wasn't hurt in the crash and is cooperating with the police.
Police have not released the names or ages of those who died.
Crews expect the roadway to stay closed for several hours.
