POWNAL, VT : Two seriously injured in Pownal crash on Tuesday, 31st July 2018

A single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning left a Pownal man and a passenger with severe injuries, officials said.

At about 12:14 a.m. Tuesday, troopers from the Vermont State Police Shaftsbury Barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash of a 2009 Dodge Avenger on Ladd Brook Road, operated by 24-year-old Peter J. Nolan, of Pownal, according to a press release from the state police.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle left the roadway and collided with trees down an embankment.

Nolan had two passengers in the vehicle. Neither Nolan nor the passengers were wearing seatbelts.

Nolan and one of the passengers sustained severe injuries, and were airlifted to Albany Medical Center, according to a Facebook post from the Pownal Fire Department. The other passenger was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Nolan was listed in critical condition as of late Tuesday afternoon.
