Pender, NE : Northeast Nebraska deputy injured in collision on Tuesday, December 2, 2014
A Thurston County sheriff's deputy has been injured in a collision between his patrol pickup and a semitrailer in northeast Nebraska.
A Nebraska State Patrol news release says the accident occurred around 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, about three miles east of Pender on Nebraska Highway 94. The patrol says the marked sheriff's unit driven by Deputy Nicholas Carlson, of Emerson, was cresting a hill as the semi was crossing the highway from a county road. The patrol says Carlson was unable to avoid hitting the rear of the big rig.
The patrol says Carlson suffered a leg injury and was taken to a hospital in Sioux City, Iowa. The semitrailer driver, 25-year-old Zachery Tietz, of Bancroft, wasn't injured.
The accident is being investigated.
