SOMERS, WI : A fatal weekend motorcycle crash in Kenosha County on Sunday, July 30, 2017
The victims of a fatal weekend motorcycle crash in Kenosha County have been identified.
Kenosha residents Fredrick S. Igartua, 30, and Julianna Igartua, 31, were killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash early Sunday morning.
The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department and Somers Fire and Rescue Department responded to a report of a serious motorcycle crash at 2:06 a.m. Sunday in the 5500 block of the East Frontage Road (120th Avenue), according to a release issued by Sgt. Mark Malecki of the Kenosha County Sheriff's Department.
The crash site is located just east of Interstate 94 and south of 52nd Street (Highway 158).
Based on the initial investigation, a 2004 Honda motorcycle traveling north failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and struck a guard rail on the west side of road.
The motorcycle then continued an additional 400 feet before coming to rest. Speed was a contributing factor of the crash, Malecki said.
Both the motorcycle's driver, Fredrick, and the rider, Julianna, were ejected from the bike on impact, sustained multiple traumatic injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway at the location was closed for a time for investigation purposes, the release stated.
