Irvington, NJ : Two women seriously injured when car hits guardrail on Garden State Parkway on Saturday, Nov 7, 2015
New Jersey state police say a woman was driving drunk when she crashed into a guardrail on the Garden State Parkway, seriously injuring herself and her passenger.
The single-car accident occurred around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, near milepost 143.6 in Irvington.
The driver, 43-year-old Crystal Simmons of Orange, was traveling in a southbound lane when she lost control of her vehicle and hit the guardrail. Her passenger, 35-year-old Heather Brown of Shrewsbury, was ejected from the vehicle.
Both women suffered serious injuries and were being treated at a hospital. But further details on their conditions were not disclosed.
Simmons was charged with assault by auto and drunken driving. It wasn't known if she has retained an attorney.
