Pottawatomie County, OK : 60-year-old Jackie Ray Brooks died in collision on State Highway 9 near Earlsboro Tuesday, September 27, 2016

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a fatality collision involving a pedestrian Tuesday near Earlsboro.

Glory Lorraine Whinery, 19, was driving west on State Highway 9, just east of Chambers Road, in Pottawatomie County shortly after 1:45 p.m. Tuesday when her vehicle hit a pedestrian, according to an accident report. The pedestrian -- identified as 60-year-old Jackie Ray Brooks, of Seminole -- was on the shoulder working on a vehicle that was broken down.

Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Whinery's condition and the cause of the accident are under investigation.
