Earth City, MO : One person dead following a wrong-way crash involving a car and semi truck at Earth City on Saturday afternoon, Nov 14, 2015

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports a 76-year-old woman from Carrollton, Ill., died Saturday afternoon after the car she was riding in was struck about 1:30 p.m. while making a wrong-way turn onto Highway 141 near Earth City.

Laveeda Reeves died after the Chrysler 300 she was a passenger in was hit in the side by a northbound semi-tractor trailer and then veered off the right side of the roadway.

According to a report from the Highway Patrol, the Chrysler driven by Lawrence Reeves, 77, also of Carrollton, had been traveling westbound on Interstate 70 when it exited onto the ramp to northbound Highway 141. The report said Reeves then attempted to turn southbound on the northbound stretch.

The driver of the semi-tractor trailer, Christopher Tryon, 38, unsuccessfully attempted to swerve out of the way of the car and also went off the road. He was not injured.

Both the driver and passenger in the Chrysler 300 were transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur, where Laveeda Reeves was declared dead an hour later. Lawrence Reeves was treated for moderate injuries.
