Willcox, AZ : Longtime Pearce resident dies in accident on Wednesday, January 4th 2017
A long-time Pearce resident lost his life in a car accident last Wednesday morning.
Brian Bissonnette was declared deceased at the scene of the two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highland and Central Roads, in Pearce, said Cochise County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Spokeswoman Carol Capas.
Both the Sheriff’s Office and Sunsites-Pearce Fire Department responded to the scene, which had been reported at 9:45 a.m.,
The other driver, Cally Turner, was found on the ground between the two vehicles. She was suffering from rib pain as well as a significant laceration to the face and neck, Capas said.
Turner told first responders that she had no recollection of how she ended up outside the vehicle
Turner’s vehicle, a 2004 white Ford F150, had sustained severe damage and was found resting on its passenger side.
Turner told Deputies that she was on the way to work from her home, which is located west on Highland from the intersection where the accident occurred.
Both vehicles were found on the northeast corner of the intersection, Capas said.
Visual evidence at the scene indicated that Bissonnette was driving north on Central Road and Turner was driving east on Highland Road at the time of the accident.
The Sheriff’s Office believes the point of impact was near the center of the intersection.
Visual evidence indicates that it was a “T-Bone collision,” with Bissonnette’s car striking Turner’s car in the side, Capas said.
It appeared that Bissonnette’s car did not yield the right of way to Turner.
There are “yield” signs on both the north and south side of the intersection, Capas said.
Deputies noted that Turner’s seatbelt was hanging across the driver’s seat (stretched) and the latching mechanism was shattered, indicating that it had been used, she said.
Evidence also indicated that Turner’s airbag had deployed.
Bissonnette’s silver 1999 Lincoln 4DSD, was found upright with severe front end damage.
His seatbelt was found in its “storage” position (not used), but the airbags had deployed.
A woman who reported the accident told Deputies she had been driving through the area when she discovered the accident scene, but had not seen the accident occur.
No further information was available as of press time.
