Lawrenceville, GA : Two dead in head-on collision on Ga. Highway 211 in Barrow on Tuesday morning, August 2, 2016

Both drivers died in a head-on collision Tuesday morning on Ga. Highway 211 in the Auburn of Barrow County, the sheriff’s office said.

The wreck happened in the area of Dee Kennedy Road and County Line-Auburn Road when one of the drivers crossed the center line while correcting after going off the side of the road, Capt. Ryan Sears said.

“Driver 2 was pronounced dead at the scene and driver 1 was pronounced dead at Barrow Regional Medical Center,” Sears said in an email at 12:30 p.m. “Both vehicles were occupied by the drivers only and the names are not being released at this time pending notification of the next of kin.”

The road reopened a few hours after the crash, the sheriff’s office said on Facebook.

“Please pray for the families that lost loved ones today,” the agency added.

No details on the victims or their vehicles were released.

The sheriff’s office also hasn’t released any theory of why the car went off the road.
