Honolulu, HI : Police arrest 21-year-old driver in Waiahole fatal car crash on Friday, July 1, 2016
Honolulu police have arrested the 21-year-old driver of the pickup truck who killed two people in a car crash around midnight Friday in Waiahole.
Joshua Thompson was arrested Friday on two counts of first-degree negligent homicide, operation of a vehicle under influence of intoxicants and promotion of a detrimental drug in the third degree.
Thompson was involved in a head-on collision that killed two people who were in a red Corvette. 55-year-old Mark Matsushima died at Castle Medical Center and 33-year-old Sefilina Gray died at the scene.
Thompson himself was in serious condition and was taken to Queen's Medical Center.
A witness told police Thompson had been passing a vehicle near a bend just before the crash.
