One person died and another was injured in a collision early Sunday in Coachella.

The collision happened at about 5:45 a.m. at Airport Boulevard and Harrison Street, according to the California Highway Patrol. It involved a Mercury Marquis and an unspecified type of vehicle.

Officials pronounced one victim dead at the scene and the paramedics rushed the second person to a local hospital with moderate injuries, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
