The Boulder County Coroner's Office has identified a man killed in a fiery traffic crash on Monday south of Boulder as Richard Beck, of Superior.
The coroner's office has completed an autopsy, but Beck's cause and manner of death are still being investigated, according to a news release.
Beck died following a head-on collision with a semi-trailer on Colo. 93 near the Flatirons Vista Trailhead on Monday afternoon. The state patrol said Beck was southbound on Colo. 93 when he drifted into oncoming traffic and collided with the semi-trailer.
The crash caused the two vehicles to catch fire, but the semi-trailer driver was able to escape before the flames engulfed the cab of his truck. He suffered minor injuries. The vehicle fires also sparked a small grass fire.
