Newport News, VA : Man dies after motorcycle crash in Hampton on Thursday, 29th March 2018
A 28-year-old Hampton man died from his injuries Thursday after he crashed the motorcycle he was driving into a car, police said.
Police and medics responded to the accident at the intersection of Victoria Boulevard and Greenbriar Avenue shortly before 5 p.m., police spokeswoman Cpl. Ashley Jenrette said in a news release.
There, they found the motorcyclist, Dontae Lamont Cooke, 28, of Hampton suffering from injuries. He was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later, Jenrette said.
A two-year-old girl who was a passenger in the car involved in the crash was also injured. She was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, Jenrette said.
Police investigating the crash think a Dodge Charger was crossing the intersection southbound on Greenbriar Avenue when it was struck by the motorcycle traveling eastbound on Victoria Boulevard at a high rate of speed, Jenrette said.
The crash remains under investigation, she said.
