Woman killed in Socorro rollover accident New York
Police have reopened the intersection of Socorro Road and Glorietta Road, after a woman died in a rollover crash. It happened around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday right in front of Sofia's Restaurant in Socorro, police said. Investigators tell KFOX14 the woman was driving at a high rate of speed, when she lost control in the intersection. "It appears that a young lady in her twenties was driving a 2004 black Chevy Monte Carlo at a high rate of speed," said Sergeant Elias Valera. Witnesses tell investigators the car was going eastbound on Socorro Road when it lost control causing it to roll over several times. "The female driver failed to negotiate a right turn on to Glorietta street and hit a stationary object," said Valera. The rollover knocked down a light pole and scattered debris all over the intersection. Valera tells KFOX14 the woman died at the scene. Investigators spent all night until 3 a.m. the next morning gathering clues, said Valera. It's not known how fast she was going, but they say the woman was the only person in the car. No one else was involved in the accident. "It doesn't appear that any alcohol was involved and there is no criminal charges pending," said Valera. Investigators haven't released the woman's name.
