Two people were killed and a third person was injured in a crash during a North Carolina police chase Friday night.
The chase began around 9 p.m. in Pinehurst, WNCN reported. A male and female passenger in the suspect vehicle were killed in the crash, while the driver was flown to the hospital in critical condition.
No names have been released.
Pinehurst police said the driver sped away from a traffic stop after being pulled over for running a stop sign.
The suspect car hit a trailer during the ensuing chase, police said. The officer rejoined the chase after determining the driver of the truck pulling the trailer was OK, police said.
The officer eventually saw the suspect car run off the road and hit a tree, police said.
