Mesa, AZ : 30-year-old woman struck and killed while walking on US 60 in Tempe on Sunday, February 15, 2015

A deadly crash shut down part of the US 60 Sunday night near Rural Road.

Police say a woman walking in the eastbound lanes was struck and killed by a driver just after 9 p.m.

That driver pulled off at McClintock and stayed near the scene to talk to investigators.

Officers say the victim was 30 years old.

It's unclear why she was on the freeway and not in a vehicle, but investigators say it appears she may have been drunk.

The roadway reopened at about 1 a.m. Monday.
