A 52-year-old woman has died after she was critically injured when she was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the street in Rossville on Monday night, police announced.

The NYPD identified the victim as Peggy Diaz of New Brighton.

No summonses have been issued to the pickup truck driver who struck Diaz as she was crossing the street in Rossville on Monday afternoon, police said.

The woman was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze in critical condition with a head injury following the crash at about 4:08 p.m. at the intersection of Correll Avenue and Gervil Street. Police said she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The 21-year-old driver remained on the scene, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Further investigation by the NYPD's Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that a blue 2011 Ford F250 Supercab driven by a 21-year-old man was traveling on Correll Avenue, attempting to make a left turn onto southbound Gervil Street, according to a statement from the NYPD's Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

As the pickup truck proceeded to travel south on Gervil Street, the vehicle's right front bumper hit Diaz who was crossing from west to east in the vicinity of the marked crosswalk, according to the police statement.
