Golden Meadow, LA : Golden Meadow man killed in crash at the Golden Meadow floodgate on Thursday, 20th December 2018

An 80-year-old Golden Meadow man was killed this morning in a crash on La. 1 at the Golden Meadow floodgate, State Police said.

The victim, Gerald Plaisance, was traveling south of La. 1 in a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado when he crossed the center line and struck a northbound 2007 Freightliner truck driven by 37-year-old Adrian Echeverria of Cypress, Texas, police said.

Police, who were notified of the crash shortly before 11 a.m., said Plaisance wasn’t wearing a seat belt and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead on scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. Echeverria was restrained during the crash and was not injured.

Alcohol and/or drug use was not suspected as a factor in the crash, but toxicology tests are pending through the Coroner’s Office, police said.
