Great Bend, KS : Albert man injured in rollover crash on Tuesday, 19th January 2021

One man was injured when his vehicle overturned while trying to avoid a collision with a deer west of Great Bend Tuesday.

According to the Barton County Sheriff’s Office, at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, BCSO responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover accident west of Great Bend.

Upon arrival to the scene in the 700 block of W. Barton County Road, deputies discovered a red 2001 Dodge Dakota, which investigation indicates was operated by James Miller, 53, of rural Albert, overturned in the north ditch. Miller stated he swerved to avoid striking a deer, at which time the vehicle struck two mailboxes, entered the north ditch striking a culvert, and overturned. The Great Bend Fire Department was able to extract Miller from the vehicle.

Miller was transported to the University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus for non-life-threatening injuries.
